Pictoplasma NYC is a festival of contemporary character design and art. The festival runs from September 4-6, 2008, and is a great opportunity to experience a unique project which helps bring cartoon imagery to life.

The project developed way back in 1999 in Berlin, and now for the first time, this exciting project makes it's way to the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, Manhatten, NYC.
This conference is a "must see" for all artists, animators, designers, producers and lovers of character design, and it's a great opportunity to meet and greet some of the industry leaders.
"Let us take you on a journey into their vast, parallel worlds. Ahead of you lies a marathon of screenings from over 200 contributors, as well as lectures, presentations and performances by some of today’s most outstanding and innovative artists. But before you plunge into this sea of inspiration, we want to thank all the artists who continue to enrich our world with their character-populated universes."
- Peter, Lars & Anna

Since 2006, artists such as Shoboshobo, Team Macho and Nate Williams have contributed to their ongoing project by leaving their mark with chalks on perfectly virgin blackboards. The speakers of this year's Pictoplasma NYC will collectively let their characters invade the blackboards in a spontaneous happening and get together, inviting attendees to join them from 7pm on."
